These artist interviews have been a blessing to me and the rest of the network by propelling our knowledge of the entertainment industry as well as broadening the perspective of individual artists, predominantly of Asian heritage. Being a brown creative myself, there are situations inside and outside of the home that present themselves as obstacles very heavily on the mental. With this glistening talent sharing his path to be doing what you want to be doing, is something quite refreshing.
Siddartha is a young 24 year old rapper from Ontario, Canada. He grew up with his parents and older brother. His older brother was the rapper before him. Siddartha enjoyed seeing his brother freestyle and share some his written song lyrics. He didn’t want to be seen as copying his brother, as the youthful energy often kicks in to be original, Siddartha chose to indulge in dancing. From finishing valedictorian at his high school in Canada, he opted out of joining the bachelors program at any of the universities he was accepted to embark on his professional musical journey. He took a one year Audio Engineering course and is now teaching dance and music production as a profession.
Siddartha gives advice about releasing content, GREAT content, and how to go about being consistent. What are we giving the PEOPLE when we put out content. How long it takes to make your first proper project depends on the route that you take. “There is no ONE WAY to be successful.”
Why do we respect artists?
“Artists DO and SAY the things that most people are scared to DO and SAY”
Deep moments were shared during the conversation. The path to who Siddartha is. The moment that defined his entry into becoming a RAPPER. However, he was an artist before he started singing. Something he identifies himself as first. Siddartha gets real with us on the show about making decisions when you are young. “Life is too short.” Generally people make big decisions and build the courage to follow through under extenuating circumstances.
